New portal at the new city entrance
January marks a major visual transformation for our technological hub. After decades overlooking the station square, the former Roman-style façade on the station square side has begun to disappear, opening the way for what will become the new main portal of the A6K & E6K campus.
This demolition phase, coordinated by IGRETEC, represents a key step in the ongoing evolution of A6K into a future-ready technological center with European ambitions.
For many years, this façade framed the view from the station and remained unchanged since the building’s original function as a postal sorting center. Today, its dismantling signals the beginning of a new architectural chapter.
This is a deliberate move, not to erase the past, but to open the building and make space for what’s next.
But beyond the physical transformation, this moment also symbolizes a broader shift.
What’s changing is not just the façade. It’s the building’s visual identity, its connection to the station, and the way it links to the city around it.

Our objective is clear. We want to create a space that reflects the spirit of A6K, a place that is open, collaborative, and dedicated to technological innovation.
Once completed, the hub will bring together 12,500 sqm of workspace, hosting more than 100 members and partners, and welcoming over 500 people on a daily basis. Entrepreneurs, innovators, industrial partners and talents will share this environment designed to foster collaboration and applied research.
As the demolition progresses, the station square is witnessing the first visible signs of the technological hub’s next phase of development.

Making-of Diary
Since its launch in March 2019, a major project has been underway, the rehabilitation of an emblematic building in Charleroi, the former postal sorting office.
After six years of operating the existing platform for A6K & E6K, the time has come. The complete renovation of the building and the development of its activities are about to accelerate.
This is why we created Making-of Diary, a communication series designed to keep you informed about the progress of the works at A6K.
Each month, discover the key milestones of the construction site in a blog article designed to give you a clear view of the transformation taking place behind the scenes of you favorite technological hub.
Together, let’s build the future of technology - and yes it comes with a little bit of dust 🚀
