Lucia supercomputer ranks 89th on global Green500 for energy efficiency

A6K NEWS CENAERO HPC 20 ANNIVERSARY 05

High-Performance Computing has become essential for organisations that need to design faster, simulate complex systems, develop AI solutions or extract value from massive datasets. As demand grows, access to powerful yet energy-efficient infrastructure is becoming a decisive advantage for industry and research alike. In this context, Wallonia marks an important milestone: Lucia, the supercomputer hosted in our hub, has been ranked 89th in the November 2025 Green500, the global benchmark for energy-efficient supercomputers.

Operated by Cenaero and supported by the Walloon Region, Lucia delivers computing power measured in petaflops, meaning it can perform millions of billions of calculations every second, while maintaining an excellent energy footprint. This recognition highlights the region’s ability to offer cutting-edge, sustainable computational resources that support multidisciplinary innovation, from advanced engineering to data science and AI-driven applications.

For Wallonia’s ecosystem, this ranking confirms that high-value industrial and technological innovation can rely on infrastructure hosted within A6K, right here in the heart of our Region.
