Back-to-school at E6K, where your next talent could be trained
As September approaches, an important moment is coming to the E6K campus. Back-to-school means welcoming a new generation of students ready to build the skills industry needs. For the companies across our ecosystem, it is also a unique opportunity to connect with future talent and anticipate tomorrow's recruitment needs.
Students are back, so are the opportunities
IFAPME learners are returning to campus, including students training for careers in digital technology. These are not courses chosen at random. Web developers, systems and network technicians, and cybersecurity technicians are all among the professions facing structural shortages in Wallonia, precisely the profiles our industrial partners tell us are increasingly difficult to recruit.
Alongside them, students from UCLouvain's Bachelor's degree in Computer Science are also starting their academic year on campus. Bringing students, learners, researchers, technicians and start-up founders together on the same site is what makes this model so strong, allowing everyone to develop their potential and create new opportunities.
Three ways to connect with talent
The first is identification. These cohorts are visible, accessible and right here on campus. A career talk, a contribution to a training module or a technical challenge for a group can all create a direct connection with profiles you may eventually want to recruit. Your next great hire could already be here.
The second is internships and final-year projects. A well-defined final-year project gives your company the opportunity to have a real business or technical challenge addressed over several months by a motivated student, with appropriate supervision and an opportunity to become familiar with your environment. It can be one of the most effective pre-recruitment opportunities available to a technology-driven SME. The key is timing, because these projects are generally defined at the beginning of the academic year, not in spring.
The third is perhaps the one that receives the least attention. Back-to-school is not only about future employees. Upskilling and reskilling are equally important to maintaining and strengthening internal performance. Whether you are looking for an existing training program or considering a tailored one for your teams, E6K can help you identify the right opportunities.
Our training partners are ready
E6K’s partners, Cepegra, Technocampus, Technocité, Technofutur TIC and WAN are entering the new academic year with comprehensive training programs for both jobseekers and professionals. Their offer covers development and data, systems and network administration, cybersecurity, web design and digital creation, as well as technical industrial professions such as automation, robotics, industrial maintenance, machining and welding, alongside aerospace-related skills.
For employees already in the workforce, the value is different. Shorter formats can fit around a professional activity while addressing a specific skills gap, without taking an employee away from their role for months. Cybersecurity and compliance, data exploitation and visualisation, agile project management, PLC programming and the operation of robotic equipment are just some of the areas covered.
For many companies, the question is not whether to recruit a rare skill in an increasingly competitive market, but whether that skill can be developed within someone who already knows the organisation. At the same investment level, the return can be very different.
New academic year, new graduates
This is the part that is often overlooked. While new cohorts are starting their training, others are completing theirs. Every year, dozens of trained, certified and operational professionals become available on the job market.
If your recruitment plan includes technical positions, the question is not whether these profiles exist. They are here, and they graduate throughout the year. The real question is whether your company will be there at the right time.
That is precisely the role of E6K, helping these flows meet. You tell us what skills and profiles you are looking for, and we help connect you with the right training operator and the right program. You do not need to navigate the entire Walloon training landscape yourself. That is what we are here for.
