A6K-E6K reaches a major milestone: works completed, lease signed, and the site ready to scale up
Charleroi, 15 October 2026 – After seven years spent proving its model, accelerating its growth and scaling up, the A6K-E6K technology and digital hub is now taking possession of its new premises and entering a new chapter in its history: large-scale operational deployment, with the aim of firmly establishing A6K-E6K as a leading industrial campus at European level.
Following the successful completion of the European key objectives, confirming that the activity and infrastructure targets set by the European Commission have been met, Tuesday, 13 October 2026 marks a major step in our journey with the signing of a 47-year lease, formalizing the handover of its new premises.
Initiated under the CATCH Plan, supported by Sambrinvest and recognized as a priority project under Belgium’s National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR), A6K-E6K is now taking another decisive step in its mission to drive the region’s industrial and technological transformation.
From the initial building permit application to the renovation of the former postal sorting centre and the construction of the new E6K campus, every stage has brought the project’s ambition closer to reality by creating larger, greener and more adaptable spaces for technology companies, researchers, entrepreneurs and training providers.
In January 2027, almost seven years after the project’s official launch, A6K-E6K will celebrate the completion of this major development, led by IGRETEC, with a strong focus on environmental performance and sustainability.
With the infrastructure in place, the focus now shifts from building capacity to unlocking its full potential.
This third phase will focus on scaling up operations, accelerating innovation, supporting business growth and equipping thousands of people with the skills needed to shape the future of industry.
This new phase, as crucial as those that preceded it, will also bring a transition in the project’s leadership. In agreement with the Board of Directors, Abd-Samad Habbachi, CEO of A6K-E6K since its inception, will support the handover to the next leadership team over the coming months, including through the inauguration and the transition period that follows.
Since 2019, this project has been built on a shared ambition and the commitment of an entire ecosystem. Thank you to our community, members and partners for helping turn this vision into reality.
The foundations are laid. The next chapter begins, now.
